My brother's wife is older than him, while my wife is 20 years younger than me. I've had the sarcastic comments, too. Water off a (happy) duck's back, mate.  :y

My partner is nearly 7 years younger than me. It doesnt make a scrap of difference to me or our families. There is someone out there for everybody , doesnt neccesarily mean someone of the same age.

I only know you from what you post on the forum, James, but you
don't seem the sort of person that would pay much attention to
the sort of comments that you get from small minded, mental pygmies.

I reckon it's great that you've found each other.  :)

Never mind her, I'd be more concerned if you met while you were still at school :D

BTW I left school at 18 and I think in some places you can even be 19 when you leave, so being in school doesn't really state much as the girl (or guy) can be a full adult anyway. Likewise you can leave at 16 so it's perfectly possible for a school student to be older and more mature than someone who works full time. Not claiming that I fitted into the "more mature" category mind.... in fact there are probably people in the latter years of school now who are more mature than me :D

BTW I agree with the general sentiment of this thread, the societal obsession with age (which crops up in many topics) is a load of bolllocks in my opinion. Do whatever you enjoy, and hang with whoever you want to hang with. I was out partying every night during my uni's freshers' week a month ago, and the vast majority of people there were younger than me (probably cos most of them are freshers funnily enough) but I can't say that I particularly noticed as I still like to party and chat to people just as I did when I was 18. I doubt most of the folk I was chatting to noticed the difference either.

Coincidentally I seldom get involved with girls my age either cos most of them are too sensible (read boring) for my liking and are often looking for commitment etc which I can't be bothered with. Most of those I meet when out at the weekend etc are a bit younger and are a bit more on my wavelength. Not surprising really as it's said that on average girls mature more quickly than guys, but I'm becomingly increasingly sceptical that I'll ever catch up :D

Best of luck to you matey, and screw the lot of em (the naysayers that is)!

Love is not a rational thing, you canīt tell your Heart that you are not going to fall in Love with somebody because they are younger or older than you.

Well my X wife was 7 years younger than me and my now X Girlfriend was 3 years older (I'm not very good at this love stuff!).

I would completely agree with the above, you go into a loving relationship with your heart and soul and that's what matters, the age bit is irrelevant IMHO.

My dad was 17yrs older than my mum, probably in an era when it seemed to be a huge age gap, and they where happy :)

Sadly, dad passed away 6.5yrs ago, leaving mum on her own during her 'retirement' years (and as they had never been parted through their 40yrs of marriage) and I think it was very hard for her at first :(. That was the biggest downside I could see.  As it happens, she now has made a massive circle of friends, and a new lease of life :D.  So much so, I never get to see her - she's always off on girlie weekends with her mates (yeah, Amsterdam and the like  :o)
