Title: Speed sensitive power steering
Post by: Slushboxer on 11 July 2008, 21:44:19
My power steering suddenly went intermittently slightly jerky when driving at about 50 mph. then cleared and now behaves like it has lost its enhanced power for parking. Any ideas please?

If loses just at low revs, tired pump.

If loses it intermittently at speed, and you're post 1998, likely to be abs ecu :(

Thanks for your advice. Is the PS ECU the little flat metal box located behind the OS front suspension housing under the plastic scuttle with an eight pin connector.

Never seen a PS ECU fail.  From your symptoms, sounds like abs ecu.  If it only happens at low speed, it will be pas pump

Thanks again.
Pump was changed with no improvement. Think you must be right with your diagnosis. do you know where the abs ecu is located.
