Title: screen h/light washers and the bloke behind
Post by: feeutfo on 13 July 2008, 01:37:14
drove home in the dark the other day and gave dirty screen a blast, looked in mirror and the previously perfectly visible gent in his vectra was rather obscured by my screen wash all over his screen!  :-[

appologised at the lights and made a mental note to adjust the jets, screen washers where all to cock, have a improved them, but light washers point all over the place, more on the bonnet than lights, they can be moved a bit, but go to far and even more water escapes out of the back of the seal.

i realise depending on your speed, the air flow will affect the jet but they seem well over the top to me, the screen washers now hit the screen better, but the power of them makes it bounce off and go...er over the top anyway.  :o
just have to wait until they block up i suppose ::)

the headlight ones are designed to be more of a mist rather than jet, so will got everywhere.  plus high power.

mist? more like a monsoon, get more on on screen from light washers than the screen washers! as did the bloke behind, one of my pets that, driving along minding your own business, and some german car cleans his screen, then i cant see >:(

It sounds to me as though your nozzles are in need of cleaning and/ or checking.  Are they partially blocked to inhibit 'mist' production or for some reason (very unusually) of the wrong internal diameter due to over zealous cleaning in the past? :-/ :-/

What age is your car?

PS Just thought; have you put an unsuitable 'mix' of screen wash in that will alter the density of your spray?

hi lizzie, 02, previous laidy owner 69 k miles, its showing more signs of neglect than over care, in that area, drivers side s/ washers where set to low so screen was dry when wipeing, and the old knackered blades have marked the screen a fair bit, only had it amonth or two, got it better now.
l/washers just seem ott, but i was on my own when testing it so could not see to well at the front of the car, maybe get the mrs to pull the lever while i wear the water proofs at the front. :y
Or should i ask her to take a close look while i sit in the car windows up and er... doors locked ;D
