HI
I know this may have been discussed before but can anyone help me please....
I have a 2001 2.0 auto CD and its a great car, never let me down, even been poland in it without missing a beat......
However there is a problem in that sometimes the engine idles high, around 1200-1600 rpm.
Other times it idles at 750rpm perfectly happy. I would say it over revs probably 20-30 per cent of the time. regardless of engine temp, trip distance etc etc
Can anyone help with a bit of advice please?
We are in Nottingham
Thanks

Could be the throttle body butterfly sticking, when was the last time it was cleaned, along with the breathers?
-
Thanks for your reply
I think the breathers were cleaned out along with the idle control valve at a service about 6 mths ago.
Is the butterfly clean out a job i can do myself?
Thanks

Well worth following the guide in its entirity and using new gaskets (pennies from Vx) on the throttle body and idle control valve. Also check that none of the vacuum pipes have come off.

Brilliant guys
