Ok. Considered. No thanks. ;D
-
No....but i did have a look at this
http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_STN327.html
Same thing but lets you read CAN bus cars as well
However from what i can see, the software only read engine codes and not other parts of the car, ie not gearbox or climate etc
-
So I take it, it's a no no then.

Whats wrong with the cheaper one first suggested ronnie?

www.talktomycar.co.uk
Great value, and the guy who sells them is very helpful.

Is there a difinative "yes/no" compatability chart for the Omega and ODBI/II?
They guy sells OBDII USB adapters for £15 - yet i am not sure if my '97 2.5 v6 would be compatible, some people say it is, some it isn't...to be truthful most of this confusion has arisen from my readings on 'the other side'...

Your 1997 Omega is NOT OBDII compatible, and cannot be read with a generic OBDII reader.
-
Would it be worth putting something in the faq about what works with what regarding Tech2 and ODBII etc because I think quite a few of us are unsure what can/can't be used.

I take it tech 2 is not a generic OBDII reader or have i got that wrong. :-[ confused easily done :D :)
-
Tech2 (cheapo or real) is not generic OBDII reader, and only works with Vauxhall/Opel in case of cheapo and Vauxhall/Opel/Izusu/Saab etc in case of real tech2

Cheers for clearing that one up for me, not that I have any electrical issues anymore (here's hoping) just mechanical now :)

Would it work on a '98 car? I heard around this time (with mini-facelift) they changed to OBDII compatability (plus i realised today that my R-Reg is actually '98 not '97 as i previously thought :-/)

I'll try anything once Mark, well almost anything.

Is there a compatiable Tech 1 system as i have a 1996 Omega Elite :-/
-
I have a 96CD sat on drive, and my (real) Tech2 can communicate with all onboard systems. Not sure if cheapo one can. My Tech2 can also talk to many systems (but not all) on Tunnies 94 Elite...
