Hi there
I have a 1996 Omega CDX auto and its a great car!
However over the past few weeks I get 'Fault' messages on the display.
So far I have had one telling me there is a problem with my 'Headlight/Tail light' and 'Check oil'
All the bulbs work fine and the oil level (although down to just over half way between the check marks) seems fine. I am having the oil changed tomorrow anyway so I havent topped it up.
The 'Headlight/Tail light' warning message comes up after a few seconds whenever I put the lights on
The 'Check oil' message has only come on the once, I switched the engine off, checked the level, restarted and the message disappeared.
Does anyone know if there is a sensor somewhere for these warning messages? Should I check the bulb connections for corrosion?
Its doing my head in especially as all the bulbs are fine!!
Any help gratefully received!!! :)

had this on my previous mig. But with a break light bulb i think. The bulbs all fine but the lead looking bit on the bulb itself had warn a flat on it, presumably with vibration and not enough pressure on the spring in the cluster, and was causing a break in the circuit. This caused the error that you now have. Not a bulb blown error as such, but a break in the circuit of any kind. So check for that i guess, or any other reason for a circuit break.wiring etc. Prob bulb connection tho. Hope helps.:y

Could well be that with the "check Oil" warning it is because briefly the sensor has been left dry by the half full sump as indicated by the dip stick.
As for the rear / headlight warning I have had those when a bulb is starting to fail / or due to a 'dry' connection and momentarily goes off (like with those lights you have to tap for them to go back on again).
The "Check Brake Light" warning of course comes on every time to start the car and goes off once you tap the brake pedal. :y
I don't think it is anything more serious than that. ;)
Others may say different of course! ;D ;)

You're looking at all FOUR tail lamps are you? 2 tail & 2 stop/tail
It's a common mistake to be made. ;)

What he said ^^^^^^^^
I missed the second set of bulbs at first on mine! :y :y :y :y

and dont use cheap bulbs the check sensors measure on resistance :y

As Andy says there are 2 tail light bulbs on each side - easily missed esp if you are looking in daylight.
In my experience the check oil light does come on at half level, so that makes sense and should go away when its topped up.

Thanks for your help guys! :y

The OIL LEVEL or OIL LACK msgs can come up if oil is around 1/2. Try to keep above 3/4 to stop those heart stopper moments at speed ;D

good to know it has oil warning, thought it must do, it warns of everything else. On my elite they are all in lovely colour, hope i never see the oil flash up tho. :y

Change the brakelights for new and hope it cures the problem :y

As said already it could be a bulb on the way out. Usually you can see the one thats dodgy it will be either brighter or dimmer than the others. Dont forget to check the front sidelight bulbs too.
