Hi all, I know this has probably been asked before, BUT does anyone know if projectors from a 97-99 fit the 94-97 model? I know this was a mini-facelift but I have a chance to get a pair from a 98 but want to be sure before I waste my cash, I currently have the old, yellowing and generally terrible ribbed type headlights which must have been designed by Lucas the prince of darkness considering how bad they are >:( so any help would be appreciated, thankyou. :-/

The newer ones still go dull - i'm in the process of taking mine apart to clean ;)

Yes, they fit straight in, just done this 'mod' myself. About 40mins work, and a direct swap BUT... you need to know that the bulbs are different..
Old type are H1 + H1 for main beam and headlight.
Projectors are H7 + H1 for main beam and headlight.
You just need to remember to specify later model if ordering bulbs, or you will get the old ones.. ie, H1 + H1, instead of H7 + H1.
Hope this helps..:y

presume they are from uk model? And right hand drive, beware ebay(sorry,egay:-* ) and overseas headlights. :y

Got some genuine Vaux Projectors here...RHD and all working as they should if your unsure and wast the real deal...£110 delivered for the pair :)
-
:y thanks for all the advice guys and yes aware about those pairs on the bay, never had a reply to my question from one about wether lhd or rhd, so assumed the worst then. :-?

:-? another question for you all, I've managed to obtain a pair of hid units, trouble is can I just plug these in? they have the 'black box' attached and look complete.
the auction didn't say they were hid's so I kinda bought blind but think I got a bargain for £60 inc p&p.

yes only two wires to connect different and you will need to use your level motors :y
-
2 wires different? not sure what you mean mate?!?!? :-? level motors from the old units yes?

well you need to power ballast pack to get dipped beam working so you remove yellow wire fron headlamp main plug and connect to ballast pack and the other wire on ballast pack goes to earth matey ! :y

ok, I'll have a go, prepare for a 'flaming omega' !! ;D
just checked out the wiring, firstly the hid unit has a socket on the ballast box, trouble is, I don't have the leads...wonder if Vxl put wiring in for it? Methinks not considering I've got an early model, bugger!

Ok, thanks for the link but if possible I'd like to use what I have. :)
on the ballast box, does it matter which pin is the positive because there doesn't seem be any particular way the plug, which I don't have, fits.
that said, would I be better off getting a kit as per above and would that new hid bulb fit in place of the existing one or try and get the headlight loom from a mini-facelift?
Sorry about all the questions but I'd rather it was done well first time.

What's different about your kit??? Are you sure it's a H1 fitting???
In theory the power feed from projector lights comes from;
Headlight ---> Into Ballast (on removable plug) --->From Ballast (on fixed plug) --->To bulb.
Hope this helps? It doesn't matter initially which way round the connector is, it just won't work BUT the omega should not require any wiring modifications.
-
no no, not a kit, Genuine Vauxhall Omega complete headlight units ;)
from a 98 omega, thing is mine is a 95 GLS so pretty sure not wiring :-[ >:(
they are complete with everything apart from extra wiring, ballast, motors the lot....
replied to the pm HP thankyou ;)
-
It's been mentioned before but you want to get part of the headlight loom/plug from the '98 car to splice into your '95 loom/lights.
MarksDTM is the man for colours/wiring solutions! :-X
