Does any one know what low compression pistons will fit in a X30XE engine and what price range they are about?. Its for a project i am planning.
Ryan.

Its a tough one.
The only production ones were fitted to the Saab 3.0V6 low pressure turbo varient.
This gives about 9.5:1 compression ratio (from memory).
The rods are also slightly stronger.

Thanks i'll have a look into them. Should be good if they will do the job for what i've got planned. :D

How much machining room is there available.
Can the pistons be skimmed, can the combustion chamber be made slightly larger?
Could high octane fuel be used?
-
Also does any one know if theres a turbo kit or superchager kit for the megga??

Seriously wishing you the best of luck - would it be easier to go to a bigger engine, plenty of GM V8s - does the Northstar engine fit, does it have much horsepower potential?
-
Thanks mate.
Just been looking on Wiki at the Northstar engine its got about 290BHP and same Torque with a rebuild and tune up i think about 350BHP so quite good engine, but i cant find any on ebay as yet.

LS1, 2 or 6 fits better.....a written off Monaro would be the ideal donor!

That wouldnt be my first choice but it all depends on what your looking for from the car. Supercharging the X30 will be taking the engine very near (or possibly past) its reliability limit meaning the running costs are going to be considerably higher (servicing, rebuilding etc)
Also for £3.5k you could buy a LS1 and have it fitted then youve got a 350bhp car thats factory reliable and, if you want more power, you can easily got 600 horses under the bonnet for relativly cheap money.
Personally id forget the ls2 or 6's as for one they use the stupid flyby throttle assembly! ::), also for the extra money they cost i wouldnt say its would be worth it unless your planning for crazy max HP
