Title: Cam Belt Idler Bearing

Guys,

I need some advice please.

I am in the process of dismantling all the hardware to replace the headgaskets. I was planning (on advice from Marks DTM Calib) to change the belt only as the last change was 13K miles and less than 2 years ago. When I took the belt cover off I was confronted with the following sight on the top middle bearing between the two heads. I understand this is not good news but more out of hope than expectation I wanted a second opinion to be sure relacement is really necessary.

It is an SKF kit from Autovaux. If it does need replacing which brand is best?

Thats fine, the bearings are generally fully grease packed when manufactured and hence some gets spilt when first run up.....

Dont forget to set the crank 60deg before TDC to protect the valve before removal.

Ment to Pm you, the cambelt kit is out on loan and due for use sat Am (may run over lunch to) so if you do need it Friday than we can sort something out.

I have a spring compressor you could borrow.

Thanks Mark big relief. Have been using JamesV6CDX's excellent how 2 instructions so sorted the piston position before removing the cams. Just got to drop the exhaust then will be taking the heads off. Thanks for the the loan offer on the valve spring compressor that would be fantastic thanks! Would you like me to collect? If so will need some details. Not sure when I will be ready for the locking kit but I have hired one from Autovaux this morning to be safe. It doesnt have the spanner though.
