Got very excited when it first run on LPG (at idle, on the drive), but have a couple of issues, which I think are the same problem - but would like a second opinion..
Firstly, it's a s/h vaporiser (mixer install, BTW), but was working on the V8 Discovery it came off.
When i switch over, it will idle and get up to 1500rpm max, then dies. Also I have a strong smell of gas from the vaporiser area (have tried nipping the unions up, but no change).
Do I order a new vaporiser now?

Will need a new diaphragm
Might be able to get a repair kit for it.

Have you tried squirting soapy water over the vaporiser to find the leak?

The smell of lpg could be coming from a vent hole.
I had this problem, when my diaphragm was knackered.
Previously had a Rover 420 on a mixer system...ran on LPG upto 2000 rpm, no power after that. New diaphragm gave it a new lease of life.

New Vapouriser, £55....
Guess which one is en route..?
Will report back after i've fitted it - till then, time to use the liquid-at-room-temperature stuff :'( 3 days = 210 miles on liquid gold..
Quick one for the DIYers out there - mine has the option to be closed or open loop (lambda) at idle - any thoughts? Does being an Auto help one way or the other? Also - there's a "back to petrol" limit over a certain RPM thershold - worth programming in? Being an Auto, you don't have that much control on the RPM on changeup when its in kickdown/Sport modes..don't use either that much, but when I do, i don't want trouble - as i'm usually in it already!

Depends on how well mapped, do the ECUs clash if both using Lambda?
You could try it and see
Switch to petrol - no just use gas I use full revs and full throttle and the engine has not melted yet.

well the one I had on the rover was £200 new or new diaphragm at £35.....
No need to go back to petrol, mine will rev quite happily to over 6,000 rpm on lpg.

Out of interest - where did you get the vacum for the vaporiser? MarkDTM did mine as i was getting my cruise done and T'd off one of the breather pipes from the front.
As i understand it, the vaccum works with the diaphragm to adjust the pressure as you drive - maybe this is your problem??

As mine is a mixer setup, i don't need a vac feed for it.
New vaporiser arrived this morning, but only just got in from work (14 hrs), so its not going on tonight :(
