Hi ya .
Does anyone know if we get a discount on Vauxhall parts. I am looking at changing my cambelt and water pump soon and my local vauxhall dealership are Quoting £121.00 + vat for the kit and £40.70 + vat for the water pump. :'(
cheers ;)

parts are available on trade club: get a card from autobahnstormers. Will save you more than it costs.
-
Ahh what is trade club or am i missing something :-?
-
http://www.autobahnstormers.org
Then "Contact Us" then "Membership Secretary" then "Download Information pack"
Membership will cost you £20, and you don't need a V6 to join .. just an "interest" .. if you don't have a V6 you are obviously jealous of those that do .. that makes you "interested" .. :)
The AutobahnStormers has also arranged Trade Club status with Vauxhall Motors. Any club member can go to a participating Vauxhall dealership and purchase all parts at Trade price and frequently used service and maintenance items with discounts up to 69%
Trade Club is a Vauxhall setup that gets some parts at very much reduced price .. you'll save your £20 on the first visit I promise !! Some dealers also give "trade discount" on non-trade club items :)

Ok thinking about joining but i hope my local Vauxhall agent accepts trade discount :-/

you can buy gates kits (which are very good)on feebay for around 75 quid. :y

Is it advisable to have a new water pump fitted at the same time as a cambelt kit?
To my knowledge my waterpump has never been done.....

Honestly do the pump at the same time
The cambelt area is like a couple of bits of glasgow, you really don't want to visit it twice :)

I thought it was only advisable to fit genuine Vauxhall parts for the cambelt :-?
-
If 2.0 DEFINITELY do the water pump (as if it seizes it will take your engine out)
If V6 its probably best to do it every other cambelt change (ie every 80k) IMHO.

Bought 2 x Contitech kits for V6 - oem supplier - good quality, all bearings SKF. Will be doing both next month!
Check out the price - https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/timing-belt-kit-info.php?recordID=6714
A good saving when buying 2 :y
My local dealer quoted £97 + VAT each on TC >:(

Gates are an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), so probably the best non-Vauxhall out there.
I do remember reading that some of the latest Vauxhall/GM parts aren't quite up to what they should be..no dount someone will pipe up shortly!

Understand Vx oem belt kits supplied by both Gates and Contitech. Both manufacturers well respected companies in this field.
-
Watch Gates kits on Ebay. One seller has been selling a few (EB's & 01's) which have gone for £41+£5. :y

Bugg*r - just bought 2 kits for more than that! And I thought I'd got a bargain!
