Can anyone tell me if it is possible to clean up the plastic lenses on a 99 omega, mini facelift model. The lenses look all cloudy now and i am sure it is not helping the light beams.
If they cannot be cleaned can you get new lenses.
They are xenon headlamps.
Thanks in advance guys.

They can be cleaned CAREFULLY ... use very fine 1500/1600 wet/dry with lots of water, I'd suggest masking off the edges well or you can scratch the paintwork :(, this makes them look really bad .. but a good polish after with T-cut or Brasso. It takes quite a lot of time and effort but does make a difference, eventually .....

We really need to have a How-To for this if there isn't one already :-/

instead of T cut try Farecla G3, if you can get your hands on a polishing sander & mop head makes life alot easier

Thanks guys, still not sure on how to do it properly, i don't want to knacker my lights. I have seen a few polishing kits where you get the abrasive sponges or pads like the type used for cutting and polishing paint work that you attatch to a low speed drill like a cordless and you use 2 creams with the pads, would these work better or does anyone know where to get them from?

I did it by hand ... fine wet and dry .. makes it look really bad .. then t-cut and the difference was amazing... :)
I was well scared of doing this so just tried a very small corner first .. once it worked I did all the light, both sides on the old miggy :y :y

ime G3 is a far better cutting compound than Tcut. If you are going to use it with a mop in a power tool go for the white one used for 2k based paints & you need to keep the surface of the headlight wet with water as you polish it otherwise it will burn. If you don't want to use a power tool then G3 can be used by hand, just means a bit more elbow grease is needed

1000 wet and dry (plenty of water) - will remove all yellow but look rough! Then use cutting compound (again with water) - the type used to clean up paintwork before blowing a patch in - will take the matt finish out. Then finish with T Cut or similar to give clear shiney finish. Well worth the effort!

I tihnk I've posted this before, but have a look here as well;
http://www.glasspolishshop.com
various products there.
You can also try Fenwicks plastic glass cleaner/polish (used on Caravan windows!) which is available from Soapy Joes (Google them) for about a fiver I think, or your local caravan place.
