Day or night, warm or cold, sometimes ok for a week sometimes every 5 mins. Tried disconnecting the hood catch, no help.
Can I just pull a fuse. And still keep the remote locking. I'm having to leave it unlocked at night.
-
disconnect the powersounder, its the black box located under the scuttle (drivers side)
its most likely the internal batteries failing which can cause this
I completely binned mine! The alarm still works through the horn backup anyways, so it wont cause any issues there.

or bonnet switch

or bonnet switch
Said they already tried ;)

Try disconnecting the wires that run to the rear windows. The ones actually in the estate part of the car.

yup, rear pane sensors on estate are rubbish
-
might be worth wrapping some tape or something around the bonnet switch to keep it held in just to try it
-
Do you, or have you heard 3 or 4 beeps when switching off the ignition?
Mine did this and it was a sign of the internal batery fainling in the power sounder
-
pulled plugs off bck window. not goe off since, what is scuttle? does 97P have power sounder?
-
scuttle is the plastic panel at the bottom of the windscreen.i believe they all have a powersounder. :y
-
coincidence.......was reading this thread and thinking-mine does that sometimes and every so often i have 4 beeps when i turn the engine off-then my alarm went off.this scuttle ,is that inside the car or under the bonnet?can you renew the batteries?ta,terry
-
the panel is on the outside . black plastic between bottom of windscreen and top edge of the bonnet.you take the wipers off and then undo various little fasteners.afraid i dont know if batteries are renewable. :y
-
thanks albitz, will have a look tomorrow, when the sun comes out.
-
I've read mixed reports elsewhere about replacing these bateries some involved the unit catching fire.
I think the general concensus is either replace it (the whole unit) or disconnect it.
I'm sure the more experienced oof'ers will confirm or deny.

Thanks mike44755678. Pulling off the window plugs did it. Simplest fix ever. If only I could sort out the cooling so easily.
-
No need to leave your car unlocked.
Lock all the doors manually from inside, and exit via rear or passenger door.
Just make sure you have your keys :y

Estates do seem to suffer from unreliable pane break sensors.
