Title: Facelift Autobox
Post by: mark.adams on 22 July 2008, 13:51:43
Is there a schedule for changing/topping up the fluid. I only ask as a colleague said that they are designed to run for the life of the car.

they are designed to be 'sealed' for life, but a change at around 100k is worth while, and not too expensive.

They are a sealed for life box.
You can replace the fluid and filters tho, you need to drop the sumps to do this ;)
Some people do this every 40-60k, and some just leave well alone.

The Vauxhall 'Inspection System Book' ie the Service Record booklet that was with the car when new states 'Automatic Transmission Oil Change, 4-speed automatic transmission A25/35 (one or the other fitted to Omega's), "Under severe operating conditions the transmission oil should be changed every 70,000 miles".
So best advise, assume severe operating conditions and change the fluid & filter every 70k.  :y :y
