Post by: IAN B on 26 July 2008, 16:47:32
I have fitted a new ignition lock today and had to smash out old one.  Engine will now turn over but not start.  Engine management warning light is flashing - how can I fix it

Flashing EML is immobilisor warning ... as said ^^^  you need the chip in the key to talk to the chip in the immobilisor system.. or it will never start  :)

All designed to stop "hot wiring".... :)  (not that I know anything about that of course ......  :) )

If your keys don't permit blade swapping (mine's a pre-chip car) then I have heard about removing the chip and sticking it to the column shroud - keeps the immobiliser happy  :P
