Title: RAC security product
Post by: STMO123 on 27 October 2007, 18:39:32
This is a new one on me. Looks OK if your car is worth it, and got to be worth an insurance discount?

another useless gadgit, could not be bothered to sit a couple of secs to wait for it to recognise the the chip or whatever.

IMHO

No matter what you have, if the thief wants it, he will take it.
Far too many gimmicks on the market, this is just another, at a stupid expense.

On face value sound a pretty good idea, until someone invents a scanner that can detect its location

A few disconnected leads work wonders

Used to take the rotor arm out and disconnect the ignition module with the Sunbeam

IMHO it's more associated to car jacking.  Johnny Toerag takes your keys from you when you pull up outside your house cos your wheelie bin is in front of your drive  (guess who put it there!) or at the lights, you can then get out of the car taking the sensor that's in your pocket (or handbag), Johnny  drives off with your mega expensive X5 R8 etc etc and hopefully he'll be miles away from you by the time the immobiliser kicks in and leaves Johnny stranded. With a bit of luck you'll be able to collect your car when Plod eventually discovers it blocking a busy junction.

;D  ;D  ;D  ;D The wheelie bin trick in front of your drive is well documentent to get you to get out of the car and leave the keys in the ignition & with the engine running.  ;)

I think the wheelie bin at the lights needs a bit more work!!  ;D  ;D  ;D
There's quite an effluent affluent area up the road and car jacking is an increasingly common crime, >:(  >:(  - it's not very far for the city centre yobs to travel to.  >:(

Not a bad idea but flawed as in the general person will leave the fob on there car keys.

a cheaper way is to do what my mates done with his veccy,

place a switch hidden away that controls the fuel pump.

This works great as i have jumped in his car a few times and couldnt figure out why it wont start  ;D

On odd occasions when I've had to leave the car in a "dodgy" place, say, a railway station car park I've simply removed the fuel pump fuse and put it in my pocket. Mind you, you do spend the day checking and double-checking that it's still there!  ;D
