Hi, everybody. What do we think about Vaux-world's cam cover gaskets? Are they as good as Vx stuff?
-
The general rule is anything non GM won't last nearly as long... :)

shi :Dte mate gen vaux the only way !! :y

Don,t waste your money on anything other than the genuine VX ones. You will end up replacing them again and again.Spend the right ammount just the once...most of us speak from experience of cost cutting.

genuine only. In the club shop i beleive.

With cam cover gaskets only ever use gen part. You might find that you have to also change the cam covers aswell as with some omega's this needs to be done (all to do with what year of the engine) as we have just done this with the holy count's GNU but now there done they will not need doing for a very long time. Ask on here or at your vaxhall garage if you need to change the cover aswell. The cost of new covers with gaskets was just over £120 TC but its a small price to pay if you dont want your omega to go up in flames as this is what happens if they dont get changed or you ues non gen parts.

Aaarrggghhh!!! Before I was just fed up - now I'm terrified. OK, who can tell me if the gaskets are available via here, and who I have to contact? Engine number is 08357380.

I think it is most unlikely that your car will go up in flames. It will be smelly from the oil hitting hot exhaust, but oil is not easily flammable. However there is a risk of damaging ignition components (plugs, leads, DIS pack) if not rectified, so best to do it sooner rather than later.
Warped covers are also unlikely unless some bright spark has just nipped them up a bit more in the past to cure the leak. Vx dealers may well tell you you have to replace covers but that is not correct.
The other point is that you should clean the breathers (guide on here) as this is the original cause of the seals going and if left blocked will quickly cause the seals to go again.
So no need to panic, but get it sorted soon. :y

Yep, the leads and DIS pack are in the garage waiting for the start date, and the oil trails don't seem major, so probably the covers aren't warped (what, with my luck?). Did the breathers a few weeks ago, but the misfire is still there, so as soon as I have a few days clear it's 'ere we go time. Still hoping for clues about gasket supplies, though.
