Title: Help needed!!!!!
Post by: rhino4 on 29 July 2008, 08:09:49
Hi there

After spending a stupid amount of money on my omega tourer 2.5 v6 to get it through its mot, it has now decided to play up once again. whenever i slow down, say towards a junction or roundabout and drop down to a higher gear, the engine cuts out and i have to turn the ignition and keep the revs high so i can pull away. motorway driving seems ok but driving through a town is a nightmare. The car will cut out even when it is not moving and ticking over. The lights displayed on the dash when this happens are the ignition, battery and oil (oil and filter have been replaced 4 weeks ago). Can anybody help me and restore my faith in omegas before I buy another car.

Many thanks in advance

Rich

Clean and lubricate the idle control valve. Are the breathers clear?

i had exactly the same problem with my 2.0..i took off the idle control valve as advised by the boys on here, gave it a good clean with carb cleaner, got a new gasket (pennies) and good as gold...problem i have now is that the small breather is blocked but im on the case

4 pot has differant system to the v6 just in case
anybody wondering, you knew really didnt you?
Worth giving the idle controle valve a clean, mustard
Pot sized aluminium canister on the pass. side of the plenum
Good squirt with carb cleaner. Leave to soak while.
Easy job. Pull a plug lead and check for oil in the plug
wells, probably would not cause stalling tho. Unless
Its really bad,
and er paper clip test as mentioned.
Hope helps.
