got a 3.0 elite, twin fans in front of the radiator to avoid overheating and heat soak (someone will probably tell me that all the omegas have twin fans now!!)... anyway...
i noticed that when the fan(s) cut in its only the drivers side one spinning. i would assume, rightly or wrongly, that cos i have two fans then they should both be spinning??? can anyone clarify? and if this is the case then is there something obvious i should look for, unplugged fan or something?
edit: and also i noted that when i switch the ignition off the fans stop, they dont continue for the minute or so afterwards to continue cooling.
thanks in advance all.

I'm no expert but I was working on my own 3.0 Elite fans a week ago. I gather from what is on this forum that the three fans work in different combinations according to circumstances. There's a thread about this somewhere, not long ago.

Chc the fuses in the ECU box under the bonnet.....and the two front fans do provide some assist to the cooling system but, are mainly used for cooling the aircon condenser.

ok will do. but should the fans be working together or is it as derek says, that they work independently depending on circumstance?

on mine two fans work when ac is on all time have same problem before just need change fuse
is three funs but two of them for AC

Richard A will send you a useful pdf when he sees this that explains the modes and combinations of the three fans (and 2 speeds..)
Re the run on after ignition off, I believe that function depends on the temp of the car when you switch off.

This fuse has blown four times on my car, happens in hot weather with aircon blowing but seems not to happen in ECO mode.

When it blows, only the larger (driver's side I think) aircon fan will work, cuts in at well over 100!

thanks alex, i'll take a look when mrs ilovemyelite gets home. :y

I've yet to find out why it blows but I do have 5 30 amp fuses sitting under the handbrake lever!
Got your pictures btw, am going to have a go at getting the August edition of SSN out in August which would be a nice surprise for everyone! ::)

thanks for advice all. went and checked and sure enough fuse had blown. will keep an eye on it, only noticed couple of days ago so not sure how long it's been like it. thankfully had some 30amp fuses spare.
