Title: Jacking & Axel Stands
Post by: TECHNOPUG on 30 July 2008, 12:24:15
Hi,

had a search but can't really find what I am after. I want to know what people suggest as the best way of rasing and supporting the front of the car for maintenance, such as changing wheel bearings, brake discs/pads etc. I'm used to little French boxes but these Omegas are damn heavy in comparison! I've got a couple of 2-tonne trolley jacks (short ones) and 4x3-tonne axel stands. So where do people suggest the safest place for raising the car with the jacks are and then where is the best/safest place to support the car on the axel stands?

Many thanks in advance,

Andrew

I think i need new taller stands with a lower starting
Point.Or a bigger jack with higher range. Am i missing
something or is it a pain to get the car jacked high
Enough to get the stands to fit under the car?

i always jack on the pad at end of chassis rail just back from wheel arch - then put stands on the same chassis rail - you do have to get the jack quite high to do it.

Biggest problem is getting the jack under the irmsher sideskirts on my elite, i have been forced to jack on the sill with the scissor jack to give enough height to slide in trolley :y
