Something I did at school, many years ago.

Cut the top off a carrot and place the top onto a saucer of water, keep it watered and the thing will start to grow, mine got that big my mother planted it on, it did grow to about 2 foot tall and used to flower, obviousley you will not get carrots but it is interesting to wacth it grow from a nippers point of view.

Best solution to this.......coz he will get bored waiting for summat to happen....

Pop to Tesco or similar......buy some carrots with foilage still attached.

Buy some pots and seeds and compost.

During the day with your son......plant seeds in compost and water.

Next.....

When he goes to bed.......shove the bought carrots in the pots, orange side down  :y

when he wakes up......hey i grown some carrots  :y

Job done  ;) ;D
