Ok need a bit of help guys/girls. To cut a long story short, got a t reg omega elite 2.5 V6 estate that i use to load lug and carry my two boxer dogs around in. Took it to car wash for an interior and exterior job(boxer dog slobber on the seats etc) and prior to me entering the car wash the electric seats on the front drivers seat were working fine. Now all the seat functions work however when bringing the seat forward it will only go along half the rack and i can just about depress the clutch with a fully stretched leg. Is there anything i can do, i`ve checked to see if anything is blocking it, its not, ive used WD40 and nothing, any tips. Whilst the interior was being cleaned the front seat was taken back, however, i went to a nearby newsagents whilst they were doing the car and when i came back the seat would then only go partially back to its original position. The motors are working but will only take the seat "so far"
In desperate need of help as i dont want to take it to a garage just yet. :'(

I'd go back to the place where you had it valeted and demand that they have them fixed. They've clearly broken the seats so why should you have to fix it?
-
is it broken tho, surely if its broken the seat wouldnt move at all?
-
there will be something in runner jamming it probly a pound coin :y

But it was not like that when you took it there. I do tend to agree with this. They break it.. they sort it. I am sure the vallet cost enough too :y

ive checked, nothing there :question

Which is mine by the way :y :y

psychnurse, you are right but the mechanism works well upto a certain point then stops, surely it cannot be broken, the seats move forward just not all the way?
-
You shouldn't really need to find out. The more you tamper with it just now, the more likely they can pass the blame onto you and deny all knowledge if there is a problem.
I couldn't tell you what's wrong with it but it was fine before you went to get it cleaned - so should be brought back to you in the same condition.
-
tbh, they could just about speak broken english so i dont see myself being very successful in taking it back there as i was able to drive it away-just.
Seeing as it still works( to an extent) i really dont see myself getting much more then a hello from them TBH.
-
Are you bringing it forward "manually", or relying on a memory preset position ? If the latter they have reset the memory

This does seem a strange one. If there is nothing blocking it then it is a bit bizzare. Does the motor cut out? or strain in any way?
-
bringing it forward manually and there is about 2ins of rack still left to cover and it just stops, the motor is still wirring but the seat isnt moving.
-
Hmmm .. very strange :-/ Will have a look at my runners in a bit to see if any ideas spring to mind

Blimey I have have just had what sounds like the same problem..
Do you have a little cranked rod type wrench with yours? That is used for manual adjustment of the seat.
In my case someone who I won't name put the seat all the way to the back - it never goes there normally and I suspect went past a dry spot on the track. Then it would move back and forward up to a point, but not all the way forward - mrs ians was not happy.
I could not see anything in the way, but tried the wrench - pretty stiff but got through the stiff point and now works fine , although I haven't tried taking it all the way back again.
Moral may be to fully exercise the movement once in a while.
-
please because i`m totally baffled. is there any way i can take the seat off and re-site it a couple of inches further forward?

This sounds the most plausible. give there are no obstructions. :y

ians, you may have cracked the case, what does this thing look like, any chance of getting a pic up and where do i put the tool?
-
its a rod , must be about 8 inches long with a crank in it so its a bit like a mini starting handle. the end is a square section - like a square allen key.
Behind your left heel is the motor - you insert the tool in the motor and rotate - its described in the manual.
Mine was tucked in the car handbook pack in the glove box. You could probably use an allenkey or maybe torx bit as an alternative.
-
ians, sorry to be a pain mate but where (if i had it) would i find this wrench thing, is it in the toolkit or attached to the seat and if its attached to the seat, where would it be?
Thanks in advance.
-
mine is tucked into the leather wallet in the glove box and was when I got the car.
Where are you? maybe someone nearby with one.
-
in southampton, can i get it from halfords?
-
just tried all the allen keys i have and nothing fits, i have located the silver motor with the hole in the front but nothing that i have placed in there has enough bite to get things going.
-
Hmmm -- I haven't got one of those -- but seems the most likely solution. Have to get searching
-
Without urging you to wreck anything -- have you a flat bladed screwdriver that fits snugly across the diagonal ?
-
i havent tried that tbh and if this part is easily available (and cheap) would rather just buy that then risk destroying any thread
-
you may be able to buy a spare from Vx, I am sure it is part of the kit that originally comes with the car.
I just tried my torx bits but the problem is that there is a bar running across the front which limits access.
-
yep you are right, access is difficult
-
is there a link to what this part looks like anywhere as i will try halfords but havent got a scoobies what it looks like.
-
just measured it - its 4mm square section.
-
is there anything else that has fitted, spoke to local vauxhall garage and part is on back order, they dont have any toolkits there that contain this device.
Anyone near southampton with this device??
