Post by: Arpy on 04 August 2008, 11:11:25
going abroad wed
read handbook re headlamp adjustment found a little lever inside high beam bulbs that only moves a few mils and seems to cover a bit of the zenon bulb is that all you have to do!!
and on the point of the zenon I have bought an aa kit of bulbs but obviousely it wont have the very expensive zenon so will I be in trouble for not having a spare one??

Nope.... Check the handbook and see what it says.... They aren't a user serviceable item!

The levers do not convert to LHD lights, but a neutral setting.  Goes from

\___  \___

to

 ___  ___

beam. Try it on a wall at night :y

Do not need to carry HID bulbs, as dealer change only (according to manual) ;)

So on that point is it then better to stick on the beam benders or move the levers ?

I have had mine on continental setting for 4 years now. I remember too it being one lever up and one down. The light from the xenons you get I feel is not as good as from the English setting. Not a problem for me here and it passes the MOT here like that..

I have driven tens of thousands of miles abroad and never been stopped and had the cops look at the "stuff you should have". However the items are common sense e.g. in Spain TWO warning triangles - one for each end of the car. I've said it before but it is one area that the EU crats could actually usefully harmonise across the EU.

Have a good trip but watch your speed.
