Title: V6 24valve or not 24 valve
Post by: vauxfan2k on 04 August 2008, 21:40:19
Upon looking at the parkers guide to road tax for the 2.5v6, I see there is a 2.5 V6 CD (one of my fleet) and a 2.5 V6 CD 24V  listed

Problem is they are 2 totally diffferent tax classes and the 2.5 24v is going to be nearly double what the non 24v one is, so does that mean that some cars were and werent 24v?

and how do I know which i have got?

thanks

Parkers do make quite a few errors >:(

They say that a LT 3.0 has more bhp than justa 3.0 ::)

Possibly the one they have listed as 24V is the facelift --- the change from pre-facelift to facelift is fuzzy time-wise. But my guess is that Parkers have ( erroneously) taken the tax hike date of April 2001 as the difference ...... going by the fact that what they list as 24V are higher tax .... dunno ... just rambling .....

It also depends on what the manufacturer called it..  Did they only add the 24V badges after a certain time?

I've seen 2 identical cars with different descriptions..and about 6 groups different on insurance before.
EDIT - not VX's though!!

for car tax prices use the DVLA's guide its only for the current year but its far more accurate and uses the VRM

LT 3.0 has Irmscher ECU Upgrade so is "Chipped" or so the stealer said seemed very true and convinced me!

2.5 V6 24V CD is that a facelift?

and a 2.5 v6 cd is a prefacelift?  or maybe otherway round?

"LT" never means its Irmscher ECU upgrade, all LT means is that it has leather! No engine upgrades at-all.

The 2.5 V6 can be found in facelift and pre-facelift.

NO 2.5 V6 OWNERS WILL BE AFFECTED.

March 2001 is when the new rules are applied from, and from early 2001 only the 2.6 was available.

So unless its had an engine change, everyone with 2.5's is safe for now.....

... until the goverment find a way to get you too  ;D
