Title: Good replacement brake source and brands
Post by: sev on 04 August 2008, 21:25:34
What in your opinion are good replacement brake sources and brands?
Just for good ol' everyday driving.

Obviously the obvious spring to mind - ATE - and their pads have the sensors already integrated.

Brembo and ferodo and I see on fleabay that there's a lot of mintex going cheap, but i've only ever seen this brand in the boy racer magazines, so don't really know if they're any good.

Brembo and Ferodo are both OE manufacturers - Mintex are usually good as well.

Mintex are fine.
You could always use GM, about £78 all in on TC ;) for disc and pads.

Myn overheated so i got paranoid

Have got Mintex XTREME Discs & GM Police spec pads

Mintex Discs were fine had a little trouble fitting rear pads in because the discs were slightly wider but it stops very good now no noises etc

the standard brakes are very hard to overheat though

Not even OE have brake sensors wires integrated into pads.  :-/ Wear sensors are clipped to the anti-rattle spring.

the genuine pads are very good value on TC,  and the disks+pads package is pretty good.

Ive now got a slight wobble when breaking lightly from my genuine disks and pads, after a spirited drive to Nottingham a couple of weeks ago ::)

Ive still gone for the GM ones. I had new Mintex disc and pads on the previous Elite and they didn't feel as good as the genuine ones.

EBC red stuff front and rear, with EBC drilled and slotted discs front - they are very grippy but i drive slowly and brake gently (unless provoked)  :y

Does anyone else like the EBC red stuff ?

I didn't push them that hard (due to lack of engine power, and only a 15m 'test')
