Title: Writing a how-to - advice
Post by: GastronomicKleptomaniac on 28 October 2007, 17:35:00
Ey up

I'm writing a how-to for the HBV removal (I didn't swap it myself... ssssh) - there's about eight pictures, quite large - do you want them putting in-line with the [img] tags, or linking to separately? I'm thinking of load time for the page, is all...

Regards
Pete

Howdoo Pete.

You need to host the images somewhere like photobucket or your own webspace then post up the links when you create the page.

I just put a new one up in TechInfo.  If you place the curser over the image and right click you will see the path the image is stored at.   :y

Best not make them too big though......

Aye, they're on PB already. I'm just curious whether people would prefer them in-line on the page, or as clicky-text links.

Cheers for moving it by the way, forgot which forum I was in. :)

It makes easier reading/printing if the pic is on the page.

Agreed  :y I dont like clicking on links to view piccies.......much better on the page  :y

Do a preview on the post you do first to make sure the piccies arent too big and need scolling to view  :y

I tend to reduce my pics by 75%, file size ends up about 100-120k ish in my case....this seems to be a good size for my pics  :y

1st class How-To, really easy to follow and clear - the captions and arrows in the pictures are a really useful detail.
