Tired pump, sadly.
So ...... as per my hi-jacked question ...... are there refurb'd pumps available? And is this a problem specific to Omegas, because Senators had servotronic assisstance but as far as I know didn't suffer from the same problem?

Senators rusted away long before they had tired pumps ;)
Seriously, afaik, its the same ZF pump. No sure what the failure mode is even :-/

A quick Google found this site.

No idea how good, bad or indifferent they are, but if you look at Omega in their drop down list, there's loads of different pumps available. :-/

Just a thought. I maybe wrong but check fuse 14 under the dash. Its a green 30 amp. I had same problem and changed this fuse as it had blown. Its fine now. Hope this helps. Mark

Check the fuse (but I doubit its that).
There are two V6 pump types, one fitted to the 3.0 and 2.5 and another fitted to the 2.6 and 3.2. The later one can be fitted to the early cars if you also swap the pipe work over.
And yes, its the same pump setup as the senator.
Not that common a failure so a known good second hand item is an option.

Mine's normally OK, it seems that I generally only have problems with it when I've returned home after a reasonable distance and then I've to manoeuvre the 'van back on the drive. I did change a bit of the fluid a year or so ago, I found a cup full of Dex II in the garage. I'll do the same again a few times before I get the spanners out & see what happens.
