In my shead I have loads of 10/40 Vauxhall oil for the Omega but I have recently bought a Rover 25 diesel for the wife to use which also uses 10/40 oil. My question is what is the difference between oil for petrol and diesel engines or can I use the same oil for both.

if its semi synthetic go for it
-
Yeah it is semi synthetic

I was always told that diesel engine oil had detergent additives and shouldn't be used in petrol engines but using petrol oil in a diesel, maybe it will benefit from some oil additive?
-
The GM semi oil says suitable for diesels/turbo diesels....

i used to use it in my isuzu jeep and that never missed a beat until some tit parked his quarry truck on top of it

So what you are trying to say is it it should be OK to use the oil but theres a chance that if I do a big wagon might squash me ;D
