is it normal to put about a litre of oil the engine around every 5 weeks, im doing about 250 miles a week. not much more than that. ive no oil leaks around gaskets or sump.
-
Depends mate... Has been discussed before... some use none at all. Others use upto a L per 1000 miles... or thereabouts.
Entirely individaul it would seem :y :y
Mine uses none between changes. But have had other cars that gulp it.
As long as all the system is good with no leaks... no worries mate :y

my rover used a lot of oil, and a hell of a lot of water, hence the 2 head gaskets blown in 5 yrs, nothing else ever went wring with it.
-
Rovers seem to be prone to HG failure. Lots of my friends have rovers... dont know why :D
-
Mine has only used that much when the cam cover seals were leaking.
A bit of oil use is not bad thing though.
-
So.. if it is being used.. where? Just out of interest :y

the spec is 1l per 1000m, but thats to cover arses. 1l per 1000m is excessive
