GOing to mess the garage and change the auto box oil. Are the sump gaskets all the same? Have been told that pre-97 have different gaskets than post 1997 models?
-
bump
SO, need two gaskets, right? Any differences between years?
-
I don't believe so, but worth waiting for another opinion.

Im not aware of any difference.
I've used the oil cooler sealant with great results before ::)

The chap in Straight 6 news who sells the kits of gaskets and filter advertises them for Omega, Senator, Carlton, etc. so I would imagine that they are the same for all AR25/35s.

boxs the same far as i know but has a large and small sump. so 2 differant size gaskits. Dextron 3 atf only.
Ps worth a call to vx to be sure?

Local Opel is reluctant on autobox issues, they say that there is NEVER any need for an oil change and they are not that willing to give the information. EPC is giving only one number for each gasket, but local speed shops say that there are differences...

2 seperate gaskets as 2 sumps.Best bet is to order from guy on ABS as he will include the filter for £35=00.Worst bit is getting the old stuff of the sumps whilst upside down...have fun.

Phone another dealer, your entitled to a price surely, they have to get the numbers then. What a muppet. Never my arse!

save your money, clean the filter with petrol or parrafin, thinners etc.use instant gasket on the sumps, works a treat. :y
-
I used gaskets and filter off Dave Kember (ABS Member)
IF if did it again, I would go instant gasket route, was that hard to remove old gaskets chunks, reckon gasket goo would seal better
-
If using the instant gasket does it have to be left to 'go off' before driving? Sure Marks DTM mentioned this to me recently.

Ah don't forget that the Carlton was called an Omega in Europe. Early Carlton/Omega A did have a different box with only one sump.

Gaskets are the same, although from my own experience two different large sumps were used. Earlier ones seemed a little bigger in that they were deeper.possibly just to hold more oil. Contact a company called JPAT in Somerset. Very helpful & send them out quicker. Excellent quality parts much cheaper than genuine.
For note I swapped the sumps from a scrap/knackered box onto the donor box. No problems so far
