Post by: Proz on 11 August 2008, 12:46:57
Hi all ,   my drivers side back window goes half way up then decides to go down again .... i can get it closed if i inch it up with the button but if i hold the button down it goes half way then down again ... can this be fixed without having to replace anything ?

Thanks  :y

Would that be the little sliding button that stops people in the back using them ..... i think mine is off atm ..ie people in the back can use the window ?

could be tight in the window runner, try spraying some silicon were window runs in runners either side of glass. then run window up and down 3-4 times.

had exactly that problem myself. Silicon spray cured it, in the b pillar slider and round the rubber on the other edge. Been find since. Mark dtm said something about a dry lube ptfe or something but i didnt have any of that. Try not to use to much tho or it leaves a slimey mess. Hth.

Childlock is a switch on the door itself :) outer edge...stops you being able to open the backdoors from the inside handle when its switched on

You will find that with any of the windows if you stick your hand in the way when its on its way up it will recognise the blockage and go down again...so most likely a blockage of some sort, probably slightly tight runner...so as said lube it up :)

if its tight in the runners, the safety system kicks in, designed to stop people getting trapped in the window where when it feels resistance such as a child's hand (or neck) then it stops and automatically retracts abit to release whatever's stuck
