Hi there,I'm having problems with my 98 2.5 Elite.In normal urban driving the temperature shows around 98 degrees.This seems too high to me as my previous omegas always stayed around 90 to 92.
The fan does come on around this temperature.Also the temperature can move up and down quite quickly on the gauge,as sometimes it has gone up to 100+ and the warning light illuminates.
Has anybody else had any problems like this ?

Are both of the fans at the front of car (mounted on the front of the aircon rad) working?
Be also aware that the temp gauge is not so accurate!
Might be worth considering a coolant flush followed by new antifreeze etc

I'll look but I'm sure there is only one fan on the front of the air con rad.

My '98 3.0 Elite has always run at that sort of reading (98 -100). It did not seem to be excessivley hot under the bonnet though & I just learned to live with it.
Just recently though I got hold of another complete set of clocks & gauges. Changed over to these & car ran at a rock steady 92.
Then changed back to original set & reading was once again 98+
Seems that gauges are only a rough guide.
You can manually adjust the temp gauge to read lower . PM me if you want to know how to do it.
This adjustment should only be made if your car has always ran a high temp.
If it has only just suddenly started running high the problem is elsewhere.

I'll look but I'm sure there is only one fan on the front of the air con rad.
there are 2 fans in front of rad on v6 (and 1 behind)

Have seen one before whereby no config had been put on the clocks, and they read artificially high. If you suspect this, I would strongly recommend getting a tech2 plugged in to resolve.

Yeah checked through properly.Found the pair of fans between the grill and air con rad.They aren't turning at all,should they run thermostatically or constant with engine running ?

could on slow speed at 97C, high speed around 99C
