Hi all,
First a bit of history.....
Replaced the instrument cluster light bulbs on my 2003 facelift as per this thread that everyone kindly helped me on....
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1219247029
HOWEVER.....
Upon replacing everything, I noticed that the upper right corner of the MID is a good deal "dimmer" than the rest of the display - it was fine before the bulb replacement.
Could I have broken something whilst replacing the other bulbs?
I took everything apart again and made sure EVERYTHING, including the grey MID plug, was seated correctly. I even jiggled everything around back there to make sure it wasn't a dodgy connection - alas, it made no difference.
So - my questions are kind of three fold....
- Is there something easy to fix this - another bulb that has gone perhaps?
- If not, can I simply replace the MID? How many billions of pounds is this likely to cost?
- Lastly, if I am replacing the MID, could I take the opportunity to "upgrade" to the colour graphical version (GID?) - I have heard rumour that each display must be mated to the stereo head unit - is this true?
Sorry - any and all help gratefully received!!
Cheers!!

You've blown a bulb in MID - not uncommon for bulbs to blow when they have been in place a while, then disturbed :y
-
To upgrade to colour display (CID), you need an unpaired CID, and an unpaired NCDC201x stereo, a carpass, and a chat with a Tech2.

OK - thanks for the help.
The CID upgrade path sounds pretty expensive, and I would imagine that these parts are quite difficult to come by second hand.....
Better to replace the bulb in the MID I think....
Anyone got a simple guide as to how to perform this feat of engineering, and which bulb I might need?
Thanks!!

Remove instrument panel again, you can get to MID bulbs...

Oh.....OK.
I had a look when I was fiddling around and couldn't see them. The MID seemed to have a sealed back to it....
Maybe I was staring at it - I'll have another look tonight.
Cheers!!

The 2 or 4 bulbs, depending on type, are accessible from back.

IIRC the 4 bulb holders look like securing bolts at first glance, so you may not have realised that you were looking at them. They twist out like all the others.
