Title: OEM Suspension and brakes Manufacturer question
Post by: sev on 27 August 2008, 00:30:11
Who makes the OEM springs and shock absorbers for vauxhall?

I'm undecided about springs from the VMD as they cost the flippin earth even with TC!

Also, although I have a CDX, are there any difference between the springs and shocks on say the MV6 or elite, and if there is, which would you fit to the car out of preference?

I have looked at aftermarket OEM quality Billstein suspension, but will probably go with OEM V for the price they were offered to me. However, i'm having second thoughts about the springs.

The springs on mine are still the originals it left the factory with!

Use pattern springs, around £30-£40 each from most factors.

Rear springs the same across the body type (saloon/estate) on prefacelifts, MV6 uses different shocks to stiffen/lower.

Thanks Mark, I thought as much.

Do we know who the brake OEM is?

It's interesting to note that they decided on the damper doing the work on the MV6 as opposed to copping out with messing around with the springs.

To give you some sort of idea, i have been ringing around, and offered a whole car set of brakes and shock absorbers, genuine GM for just under 400 . - He gave me prices for springs, but I'll go with what you said and use auto factor parts for the springs.

Any particular brand or are they all much of a muchness - ringing round the cheapest i've been offered are monroe, or firstline who i've never heard of from some guy punting car spares on fleabay.

Earls brake hoses are a possibility as well - but I don't know yet.
