Hi all, I need the camber adjusting on my 2003 2.2Tdi CDX. One firm said I needed a kit for them to do it, another said they could but it would cost £60. Is the camber adjustable on my model as it stands? and is £60 excessive as some posts indicate they are getting it done for much less?
I live in Wilts so WIM is some distance away.

If you have read some of the many posts on here about camber and alignment, you will see that your standard tyre fit place simply do not have the knowledge or the kit to do the job. Full geometry is the way to go. No idea of your distance from WIM but I used them from north of Edinburgh!

If you don't get your cambers done mate you will scrub your tyres in no time at all as I myself have found myself :-[
Like Broocie has already said WIM are very good and do excellent prices for Forum members, WIM is supposed to be the best in the country.
A number of people on here have gone to other places then ended up going to WIM to have it done properly.

£60 is fair but very few places know how to do it right on an Omega. The manufacturers figures (which most places use) have a huge tolerance so you'll be 'in spec' but your tyres will shred. Even the nominal manufacturers figure is only right for a brand new suspension.

Thanks for the info. I have used one of the firms before to do a full alignment, and they set the caster to -1 17' and -1 16'. But another firm told me they could not be adjusted without a kit. I wondered if the first firm had just been scaming me as after about 12000 it has worn the inside of the drivers side down to no tread.
I did get a printout, but I will proberbly go to WIM to be on the safe side.

I used a local independant firm that charged me £90 for a full laser geometry check. At the end they gave me a print-out showing everything within spec. All "green". 8,000 miles later my front tyres were down to the webbing on the inside edge.
So, I took it to the main dealer, they must know what to do, right? They charged me £120 for a "full geometry check", they made me wait two and a half hours while they did it but couldn't give me a print-out "the printers broken". I didn't trust them and went back to the previous place paid another £90 to get another print-out showing the wheels were still totally out of alignment. After kicking up a stink the main dealer refunded me in full but I still had to pay another firm to set it up. All this was before I discovered the forum.
Its a nightmare getting this done properly. I'm going to WIM next time.
