Title: ar35 gearbox
Post by: johnnycboy on 26 August 2008, 21:06:38
made a bit of a opps up today, checking the level of trans oil.  for some reason i decided to undo the bolt up above the sump plug and oil pissed out everywhere under pressure.  1st question is this trans oil and 2nd wheres it going.  it was dark brown, but not engine oil.  last question how much trans oil do these boxes hold.

all help appreciated

there is one other thing tried to remove fuel filter as well, barsteward would not release, any body have any good pointes to remove the clips.

TIA

The bolt on gearbox? Yes, that will cause ATF to fly out if engine not running.

Worth changing the ATF...

engine running at time, lost a couple of litres before cutting off engine.  atf transfusion gonna happen real soon.  would this cause jumping from 2nd to 3rd gear at about 30mph

If the oil is old, as it breaks down from long molecule chains to shorter ones, it increases in volume.

If gear changes are not smooth, do atf change asap. I recommend titan 4000 from opie oils :y

ATF topped up with about 3.5 litres of oil. still have the clonking at back of car.  only seems to happen if accelarating slightly heavy (if you know what I mean) and if foot taken off pedal at about the same time if changes up a gear.  i thinking more along the lines of diff problems.  any one else have any ideas. :-/
