I would check the gearbox fluid level anyway...easy to do and worth it just in case...

For the first few hundred yards, its holds on to gears longer to help heat the cats

normal at 20mph to the end of my road on both migs i have owned. But cant do any harm to check the level. Service every 60k.

Is there a sneaky way to disable it?  My inbuilt mechanical sympathy would never rev a cold engine to 3.5k within 20 seconds of starting, let alone for the first mile!

Sod the cat warmup - 90% of the time i start the car is does 35 miles before stopping again...

leave it to idle for 30 seconds before pulling off.....

One forum member used to roll a cigarette before pulling off, said that that was about long enough.....

Me i fire her up, have a quick wander round and check the tyres and then jump in, doesn't hang on to the gears then

I just drive gently for about 400 yards, basically off the estate (housing that is :) ) by which time it is driving quite normally. I then have 4 miles of 30 mph by which time everything has warmed up nicely, even in the middle of winter  :)

Mine does it too... does annoy me, as it stays in 1st untill I leave the estate (which early in the morning with a loud exhaust aint a good thing)

I often pres the ice button once the car gets to 10mph, by the time the car changes into 3rd, the cars going 15mph ish then. Once the cars been 'forced' into 3rd, I turn the ice mode back off, and carry on as normal.

Not worried about the cats, as they are hung up in the garage  ;D ;D ;D

Either idle it for a short period or use winter mode

No way to disable, unless you have facilities to remap the gearbox ecu.

Ice mode will put excessive strain on box imho.

Every auto Omega I've owned, it only does it for the first 100yrds or so...
