Post by: STMO123 on 30 October 2007, 18:38:19
the chief constable of South Yorks, has been summoned for speeding in Wrexham. They've just been saying on the telly that he could be fined uo to £1000 or banned from driving. Errrrrr......No.

Mmm! :-? It's just that some are treated more equally than others.
It was nice to see this afternoon that as the sun was shining, our boys in hi-viz jackets, on bikes & in cars, were out en mass where a major road to Bury goes from 40 to 30. They could obviously give us our undeserved attention!  :-X  :-X  :-X

how fast was he going?

speaking of 40 to 30, some of you in my local area will be familiar with the A6 from the roundabout near the M61 to westhoughton which is a 40 limit until just before church lane, why does EVERYONE insist on going through the camera at 30?!!!! annoys the life out of me

Perhaps people are being over cautious, is it signed 40.

Well.....

I have 7 points on my licence.

4 Points - SP60 , was supposed to be doing 85mph in a fully laden transit van up a big steep bank in Evesham    GIVE ME A BREAK!!

3 Points - doing 36mph in a 30 zone that was a 40 zone the day before.    DAYLIGHT ROBBERY AND PLANNED IN MY OPINION!

And to top it off i was going down the A500 yesterday and witnesses a copper doing at least 90mph (i was doing 70 and he flew past me) , with no lights on, and got that close to a car in the outside lane , he had to pull in. I followed the police car and he pulled up at Mcdonalds car park in stoke.  I called the police and demanded to speak to the sergeant. I did and he said very casually "oh right , ok leave it with me and ill have a word and call you back". I gave my details and still no sign of being caled back.

THIS INFURIATES ME!! ONE RULE FOR ONE , ONE FOR ANOTHER. EVERY POLICE OFFICER IVE DEALT WITH IS A JUDGEMENTAL, DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO IDIOT!!   >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

its a 40 stretch for well over a mile, so there are repeaters all the way, then there's the camera, then a couple of hundred yards further down it changes to 30

I work near by & drive along a road that changes from 30 to 40 then to national speed limit & than back to 30. Why then do I get behind people that do 35 along the lot?  :-?  :-?
They don't take a blind bit of notice!  >:(

I've to hold my hands up & appologise. The boys in hi-viz were involved in a drugs raid - the restaurant just happens to be on the main road next to the 30/40 signs.    :-[

If he gets convicted it will be the chop anyway won't it?
Can't see how he preach a road safety message in his force without being branded a hypocrit.

Was he driving dangerously?

Was he driving dangerously?

Very likely not. But when you come out with statemnets like "If I had my all camera would be completely hidden & mobile. If we are serious about speed, we will have to think about that."

And also said he wanted to end "the British driving Public's habit of speeding when ever we can get away with it. I find it wierd that there is this idea that enforcing speeding law is somehow unsporting."

In his high profile position you need to be seen to be complying with the laws that you are enforcing. Especially in North Wales where that other prat lives & works.
