Title: Lotus notes / Domino
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 30 October 2007, 21:23:54
Not something I have experience with, but something I'll need to learn, for my new role.

If anyone knows anything about this package, please could you post up what it's all about?

I'm aware that "Domino?" Is a mail server, simelar to exchange??

Maybe Lotus notes is an equivelent to MS Office?

We have a lot still, can be a lot more powerful than microsoft equivalents

We have quite a few Domino servers on Mainframes, MS cant come close

Notes being desktop client
Used for Mail & Databases
Domino more the server side.

Not something I deal with, but overhear a lot, sitting next to the support guys.

Love it or hate it, its not the place.

One thing I do know, Its supporters are very passionate about it, so for the purposes of an interview, best not to shout it down too much.

Lotus Notes is more like Exchange (Lotus CC:Mail was nearer to MS-Mail), Domino is an applicationframework server.
