Title: Vets
Post by: miggy on 31 October 2007, 22:38:08
Took the lab to the vets last night as she has a thyroid problem and is on medication for it. she had a big cancer removed just over a year ago. she is 9 years old.

Turns out she now also may have cushings disease, this is related to her swollen stomach, vomiting and weight gain, it could either be a tumor on her liver or adrenaline gland, we should get her blood results back tomorrow.

To top that she used to suffer with fits, her last one was about 2 years ago, well, tonight she had 2 more, its not very nice to see your dog distressed that way, we rang the vet and they advised to keep her calm and in a dim light, he said if she has anymore tonight they would come out for her and sedate her till morning, but he said that would not be good news.

It is now 2 hours since she had one,so hopefully they have ceased.

Lets see what the blood results show tomorrow.

It really makes my blood boil, she is our second lab that we rescued, she was badly beaten as a pup and when i went to get her,the bloke who owned her used to feed her 2 lambs hearts a day, she was like a skeleton.

She is a fantastic dog with a brilliant temperment, she dont deserve all these illnesses, its a cruel world.

A cruel world it is mate

When we got our pup, Megan, from newport, they fed her on nothing but sweetcorn. and she is a lovely pegigree cocker spaniel, chocolate one.

thankfully, she was V young, so we were able to rescue her and give her a proper home / diet!

If I read that properly, you've had her quite a long time. She hasn't done too bad, thanks to you :y

Yes mate, we had her when she was 2 years old, she still runs to corners if anyone moves about too quickley, that was due to the beatings she used to get from her previous owners, or should i say trash.

Yes. Had it not been for you what life would she have had? Anyway, I hope this is just a passing rough patch.
