Title: Big water leak (coolent)
Post by: Black cxd v6 on 16 September 2008, 16:41:42
I have a bad coolent leak on my 2.5 V6. Took it to an army landrover garage today, they found the leak coming from a round plastic 'thing' at the back/top of the engine. They only know how to fix landrovers so couldn't tell me what the part was. All I know about it is that it has a rubber pipe going in to it. Any ideas please?
This is picture found on to 'net.

Can't see the pic at work but on what you say sounds like the heater bypass valve. Not expensive and dead easy to change :y

common fault, heater by-pass valve (hbv)

Just get a replacement from your Opel dealer  :y

Sorry found one on ebay £13.99 just have to wait for it to turn up. Mails slow a moment with the channel tunnel problems.
Any tips for fitting it?

HBV - best to get one from Vx/Opel dealer.  Somes Ebay ones not good.

To show your pic need to send a copy to a web server (photobucket account) - wont work if only on your hard drive!
