Ok as stated airbag light has come on (mini facelift so airbags in front seats too) could this just be wiring to the seats come loose as it wasnt on before and hasnt had a bump or something else?
How can you turn it off? Reset procedure or tech2?
Cheers, Chris.

Cheapo or real Tech II to read the fault code & then re-set. My Astra's air bag light was due to a faulty seat belt pretensioner.

Fixing the fault wont just auto reset it then? If there is a code would paperclip test show it up?

Chris, Had this a while back, turned out that the multi-plug under the seat had loosened somehow. Pushed it back in no more airbag light :) :)
-
..... Pushed it back in no more airbag light :) :)
You'd still have to reset it though .... :-/
I fixed the fault with my Astra but the light didn't go out till it was reset, same as IrmscherKris's Omega.

As stated my light went out as soon as connector was pushed back in :)

I believe you! ;)
Just don't understand why. :y

Well I will have a fiddle with the plugs tomorrow and see if anything is resolved as well as doing paperclip test just to be on the safe side...you never know!

I don't think you can paperclip this system Chris..

Wasn`t implying you were wrong and I was right or vice versa just saying mine went out. Don`t know why either, just did. :y :y :) :)

mines been on for about 2 months now, cant find the prob >:( >:( >:(

When I owned a series of Citroen Xantias, 99.9% of the time it was the seat connector. Only real cure was to solder the connections together...hopefully, VX used better connectors!

Any fault codes read? :-/
-
paper clip/pedal trick only read engine ecu. Wont hurt to do it at any point, but i dont think the air bags have anything do with the engine ecu. How does the omega deal with child car seats? Does it have option to deactivate the pass side?
-
Needs Tech2 or cheapo Tec2 to reset airbag codes!

AFAIK unable to deactivate individual aspects of SBS. IIRC if any part of SBS system inoperative light will come on :)

Same with mine eventuallyafter I had unplugged and reconnected a few times the light went out - hasn't returned ...........yet :-X.
:y
-
You really need to get it tech2'd or cheapo tech2'd to find out why the airbag light has come on.........could be any of the airbags or sensors with a prob or indeed a bad connection.......but getting the code will point you in the right place :y
-
Real tech2 is best for this...
It will show you the live data, you can then wiggle all the plugs and work out exactly which one is being a pain.
On mine it was the one in the drivers seat back, ended up giving the connector a good clean, been fine since.
-
mine has just come on immediately after having the dashboard out for bulb replacement. maybe bashed the inside of the steering wheel bits???
-
Months its been out since fixing it....
Tell you how to do the same....
Bloody things come on again tonight >:(
-
I would look around the hindge area of the seat and see if the wires have got trapped .
I dont think you will be able to turn SRS lamp off as this a safety crical system.
There will be a stored code in SRS module
-
have thought of an alternative solution...
take butter knife to the centre dash airvents, removing them.
undo 2 screws in the corners of the air vent, remove casing...
undo screw on the left hand side of the dash panel
undo screw just above settering wheel at the base of the dash panel.
remove dash panel being careful of the fat cable in the back of the lcd screen.
locate airbag bulb on the reverse of the dash panel. turn bulb 90 degress and remove.
reassemble dash. reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.
:D :D :D

Are not the airbags inoperative if the light is showing? Taking the bulb out won't alter this, surely, and there must be insurance complications if the system has been left unrepaired or deliberately disabled.

The airbag ECU monitors the system whenever the car battery is connected and disturbing any part of it will raise a fault and light the light. I suspect it's detected the removal of the dash (disconnection of the airbag warning light) and now needs resetting.

Yes this is right.
Light on, no SRS (none).
If the OP doen't know what has caused it (aka self-inflicted) get a full code read to pin point for repair. If you can't get to a friendly tech2 some auto electician specialists can read & reset (worth phoning around).
