The advice generally given is that all non-genuine ones are not worth the bother. Use genuine.

Are you having bother with yours?

Remember to ensure the breathers are clear. :y

There are some very cheap ones out there steve but they won't last as long as the Vx ones....may as well do it once, and do it properly.. :y

I am doing the job along with the oil cooler so I will ensure the breathers are nice and clear too.

As an aside steve, what are the symptoms, are both sides leaking, or just one?

Hi James yes having a look it, seem to be both sides. Have not had the smell of oil as yet but you can see the oil around the back bolts on each of the rockers.

I Know all was fine when i checked things on over the weekend but by the evening there was a layer on oil on top of our nice red coolant :'( :'(.

One thing is i think it was spotted early and car has not been driven since.

Good - I won't have too much flushing to do, then!

Can you also pick up a 12mm alan key, mate - a long one. It's needed to get the oil filter housing out!

Cheers
James

I will try and get up as early as possible, as it's not likely to be a quick job!

When were your spark plugs last done?
If it's been over 15k or so then pop some on the shopping list - may as well do them while they are this accessible..

If you changed them all then I wouldn't worry, if it's running well then.
As an aside - I forgot - get some carb cleaner ;D
