my omega wud not start the other day , jus kept winding over .. left it over nite an way hey started 1st pop ! then today again wud not start :-[ sounded like it was not getin a spark ? checked the left hand side plugs an they wer full off oil ? how do i fix this ? wat caused it ? an how do u prevent it happening again ? all help much appreciated 8-)

need to change the cam cover gaskets m8 and its prob fooked the dis pack now so that will need replacing and your leads are prob been eaten away by the oil as well sorry not good news

try paperclip test and post results and get your cam gaskets done asap also breathers cleaned.

Cam cover gaskets under neath cam covers or rocker covers as they used to be known. About £70. oof shop might have some.

Cam Cover Gaskets are like the old Rocker Cover Gaskets, only one covers the Cams the other the Rockers.
When the breather system gets blocked the pressure build up blows the gaskets, or someone did not fit Genuine Vauxhall Gaskets last time they were changed....
If you have oil in the Spark Plug wells mate like already said get them done sooner rather than later. If you do it yourself probably cost you £80 with both Cam Cover Gaskets, 16 "O" rings plus gasket sealer (black sealant P/N 90485251).
Vauxhall Dealer will probably charge around £298 to do the Gaskets, the breathers will be extra.....
Also like said above do your "Paperclip Test" you could have a Crank Sensor braking down..

Hi merc most of the info you will need to do them and other essential jobs yourself is within the maintenance guide. They are very informative and have been put there courtesy of past and present OOF members/admin.

A good selection of torx sockets and torque wrench is a must. still work out cheaper than taking to vx.
Try it yourself, very satisfying knowing you can do it yourself and any problems there is always someone on here who may be able to help. :y

If you do it yourself,the camcover bolts should only be done up to 8n/m (not much more than finger tight).if they are overtightened you will get similar problems reccuring. :y
p.s. if someone else is going to do it ,make sure they know this. :y

Yup, and if a garage does it, then will overtighten, and then when you go back coz its leaked, they will bring up the mythical expensive warped covers!
