Hello all,
My fan belt has just snapped, local dealers don't stock them so I was wondering if the BMW one would fit?
Anyone know if it would?
Thanks in advance,
Pete.

not sure but bmw belt is different and more dear then Vx

One question..............why did it snap?
-
Good question, don't know - perhaps it's old?
As I started the engine today, it made a squeeking noise and when I went to pull off and applied power, it just went.

Better check your tensioner is free to spin mate. If so check the other pulleys too, not sure what's there on the tractor myself
-
Upon further investigation it looks like both belts have jumped off.

Past experience sudgests that a belt does not snap or jump off for no reason so check alternator etc to make sure they are free.....and dont forget the chocolate water pump on the 2.5TD :y

Alternator and water pump are both less than three months old, might need a new tensioner?
-
Upon proper inspection, belt had split half the way across which must have caused it to pop off and in doing so pull the AC one off.
Had water pump out, looks good as new, all pulleys turning freely. Tensioner seems to be working fine - very hard to compress but does move freely.
Suppose I'd better try a new belt then.
While I'm replacing the coolant, where do I find the block drain plug on these?
Thanks.

On TD, rad drain on passenger side of rad, block drain on drivers side of block towards back.

block drain on drivers side of block towards back.
Is it obvious? All I can find is a short bit of black rubber pipe connected to some metal pipe?

Its just a bolt in side of block, 15mm iirc.
