Hi,
I bought an Audi A8 a few months back so my other half has been using the Omega to drive about in. We went on holiday for 2 weeks, and then when we got back, the key fob wouldn't open the doors.
I changed the battery in the keyfob, as I have done before, and still nothing opens - I can't find the spare keyfob. The problem with my Omega is that in the past, before I owned it, someone has tried to break in and knackered the key barrel on the drivers door, so I have always just used the remote.
I thought it might be a dead battery, so today with my best contortionist skills, I entered through the back passage (the boot!), and managed to pop the bonnet and put the battery on charge. After about 3 hours though, there is still no difference.
I can't pop the locks from the inside, presumably because of the deadlocks. If it helps with diagnosis, the boot lock made a very laboured sound which made me think it may be battery related, and the minute we put the battery on charge, the alarm went off a couple of times but I am guessing this is due to disturbing the inside of the car. Although it didn't go off while I was wriggling around inside it.
Can anyone help me so that I can get the sodding door open and drive it to a garage so someone can fix it? Cheers, Chris.

Would suggest that the battery should be on charge for a lot longer..certainly overnight..possibly longer...OR borrow a fully charged battery from elsewhere.
Not a lot of point "playing" further until you've COMPLETELY discounted the battery.

you could try putting jump leads on it from another car, at least itll allow you to see if the battery is at fault, but as duggs says the battery needs alot longer charging.

As stated by the others get the battery properly charged. It is very likely its dead from being left for two weeks.
A re-program of the fob is most likely needed. Put the key in the ignition and turn onto position 2, then press the fob until the locks open and close in succession. Key fob should now work.
