when I unlocked the car this morning in my garage. It was showing temperature, date and time! The previous evening I put the car away, remotely locked it as usual and walked away.
In all my years with Omega's I have never encountered this before! :o
Is this a sign of a pending problem or just a fluke? :-? :-?
-
probably you had radio on when ignition is switched off.

but i think i may be wrong because is radio was on then it wouldn't show date ::)

Hi Lizzie,
I don't know if they all do it but mine stays on for about 10 seconds after the ignition is turned off and keys removed :-?.
-
There is a signal from the radio that powers it up IIRC. I wonder if this is being activated by something, or the radio hit a glitch and didn't power down properly. Did the steering wheel audio controls also remain illuminated?

Thanks for all your comment :y :y :y
The radio was off when I turned the ignition off, and everything shut down before I left the car and locked it.
This morning I unlocked, remotely, as usual and the MID was on as I said, but I didn't notice if the steering wheel controls were illuminated or not ::) ::) ::)
mmmmm........it could be one of those silly mysteries of cars, and I will see what happens tomorrow morning! :D :D :D ;)
Thanks again! :y :y :y

Lizzie, are you saying that it was off when you left the car but came on on it's own after you walked away?

Well Pete that seems to be the situation! :o
This morning it was fine! ::) ::)

did you leave the lights on? MID stays on if the lights are on, even with the key out.
-
If I'm not mistaken, the MID (and perhaps the Radio :-/) stays on when the keys are in the lock but turned back to the "off" position. I'm wondering if the set of contacts that detect the key being in the ignition are getting a little sticky?
Not sure what else that contact powers, other than the autobox "Park" interlock. Would be worth investigating as it's going to happen again and flatten the battery if so. Try inserting and remving the key a few times and see if it ever sticks on?
EDIT: Of course. This contact will also power the "key in ignition" warning when you come to open the door, so unlikely it would go unnoticed.

Radio is connected to W contact (12v after switching engine off, but before removing key), hence radio never turns off until key removed.
So, possibly fault with W contact.
-
As you say though, key in buzzer operates off W contact as well.

No. The lights were definately off thanks Tunnie :y

Worth me looking into Kevin though; Thanks! :y

Thanks TB, but the radio and final 'buzzer' sound did go off when I removed the key the previous night, and I know the MID went off at the same time.
Most strange, but I will check out the kind suggestions and just hope this does not re-occur. 8-) 8-)

You're just showing off cos you can get a car in your garage! ;) Mine have only looked in from the drive for the last 4 years or so! ;D ;D :y

Thats how W is supposed to work, suspecting fault with W that caused it to come back on for some reason :-/

True Andy!! ;D ;D ;D ;) I used to leave mine out at previous address because a) we had too much junk (mainly my ex's!! ::) ::)) and b) too many cars to put into the garage! :D ;)
But at my new address I wouldn't like to leave any car of quality out, although some do but glass is sometimes smashed, tyres slashed, and one car (not a wreck by any means!) was even set on fire :'( :'( :'(
The trouble is I have had to remove the 'outer part' of the towing hitch to make the car fit the garage, and re-install it whenever I need to tow a trailer! ::) ::) ::) Bloody nusiance!! >:(

Is that contact easily accessable? :-?

Are you sure?
Lights on, engine off, key to off (lights still on) MID remains on.
Take key out, MID stays on.

But my MID and lights were off when I extracted key from lock, and no buzzers were sounding with the door open before I shut the door and remotely locked the car 8-)

Another possibilty Lizzie Zoom is if the radio mute line gets activated - Traffic Master or phone kits...
