His is drive by wire, yours is cable operated.

So Manny
Yes
Fit New indicator stalk with cruise,
check and fit brake and clutch switch's if necessary, have a chat with tech2 to enable it all.

There are cheaper places than dealers ;)

2.6 manual will have brake switch fitted.  From memory, clutch switch won't be, so check that.

Then stalk (£30 from dealer), and a chat with a tech2 device...

Do you need to fit the clutch switch for it to work?

Yes you do coz it won't work without it.

Yes, you need to fit the clutch switch for it to work.
The clutch switch is on/connected until you press the clutch, then it's off/disconnected.
So without the switch the connection will be off all the time = disable the cruise control.

My facelift 2.6 had the clutch switch already fitted so it just needed a new stalk and tech2ing

no one has checked the most important thing,, is the cruise control unit actually fitted, cause if not it wont matter how many switches you change or the indicator stalk being changed it simply will not work,, now it may be that all facelifts have the unit fitted,, however on my previous miggy it was quoted at nearly £900 all in and simply not worth it....

No unit required on drive by wire throttle cars (i.e. 3.2, 2.2 and 2.6) as its nothing more than a software setting in the engine ecu  :y

as mentioned 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 have a cable linked to the throttle, so its very much a physical process, hence the unit required.

2.2/2.6/3.2 the engines throttle is controlled by the ECU, no cables involved. Hence its just a software adjustment.
