Title: Wood Effect Center dash
Post by: ian6pot on 09 October 2008, 00:31:05
Knew it wouldent be long before i needed info :-/

Anybody know the for sure if i can fit the wood effect center dash section in place of my plastic one.
I dont have climate control fitted,it just has the two heat controls for o/s and n/s and blower speed and air direction knob,4 knobs in all.

The only ones i have seen for sale seem to have the bigger holes for the climate controls, did they ever fit them with normal heaters?

but you modify the climate wood trim to fit the dial type have done it myself !! takes a bit of chopping and glueing but worth it in the end !  :y

I've got the wood-effect dash to fit into my car, and will be attempting to swap it in there in the not so distant future.

ive done it as well, i got a spare black plastic one & chopped each control outer out in sections with black plastic still on it, makes it easier to work with, then i carefully cut through the welded plastic in one place & peeled it off but it takes some doing, the wood bit i carefully filed down the lip on the back until it was flush on the back, stuck control outers in with epoxy putty, [a little  bit at first to make sure mounting holes lined up] then put it all the way around, you will have to block up the grille bit from the back [black plastic does it] otherwise youll have light shining through, the air circulation button wont fit so cut the lug off the back of it & it goes in, also you have to carefully trim the plastic slides on the back so the wiring plugs will slide in, i think ive covered it all apart from having patience of a saint & hide the swear jar :D :D,,,,best of luck :y :y

Is your spare plastic one a non-climate type, with the rotary control holes? I'm after a replacement for mine which has the old soft-finish peeling syndrome!
