anyone got views or know of any issues with this engine?
Those that know, im putting a v8 into my omega, but we keep changing our minds as to what engine to put in!
we were and have got a ls1 5.7l engine, 350bhp but my mate at vauxhall can now get a recon 7.0l LS7 engine complete for £5k - which is very very good!
wont need to supercharge this engine, standard is 505bhp and 470lb torque!!!!!!

hope cars a manual, that will bugger an auto box.

yes it will eat most boxes lol, we are looking for availability on a tremac TR6060, a ultra strong 6 speed manual box...

lol i had a nosey at a website for those crate engines, was very tempted by the same 350bhp 5.7 that you were on about.
let me know what happens ;)
i think you'd be looking for the sort of gearbox used in the lingerfelt corvette!
let me know how this project goes as i'v got a similar v8 project in mind (the 350 bhp one ;) )
if i remember correctly then crate do a couple of gearboxes. could ask them?

Wow - something I'd love to do to mine one day! Have to finish the kit car first though, and before that have to finish the house (just about to start the central heating :( ). I've got sick and depraved ideas of skyline transmission too. I think I have a 4WD fettish - my kit car is 4WD too.
Woah - if you can get an LS7 for 5k, how much was your LS1?
One important consideration (well maybe not) - you can get vauxhall engine covers for the LS1/2 via monaro (and presumably the VXR8). Would these fit the LS7? Did i mention how important this is :P

i'd imagine you can get a cover to go on as gm use most of the ls' series engines in something or other (they use a new ls3 engine in the camaro i think it is) and the ls6 is the newer version of the ls2 from what i'v read so maybe you can use the ls2 cover

i'd rather have one that says commodore or V8 in big silver lettering!
thats something, i wonder if you can get the little plastic bits that say cdx for example but one that says V8 :P
